Registration of the Nissan Noumea Kitesurf Pro 2011

E-mail Print PDF

The final stop of PKRA 2011 is taking place in Noumea, New Caledonia. This South Pacific Island offers perfect conditions for freestyle with flat water, wind blowing fifteen to twenty five knots and air and water temperatures hovering around 28 degrees.  You can check out the live webcast to make sure the conditions are this good and see the incredible tricks being performed by the best men and women riders. The first day of the event is the time for the riders to prepare their gear, register and get oriented with the spot.

This event is always spectacular due to the fact the spot allows the riders to throw their most technical moves right next to the beach.

The locals here are always excited about this event because they get to compete against the best in the world and against each other.  Many of them have done the event before like Micheal Dinclaux, Michael Siret, Sebastien Nguyen, and many more.  This year we are also seeing a new generation of young riders like Antoine Monnerville that are ready to move up and beat some of the older locals and PKRA tour riders.

The local stand out is Tom Hebert, who is seasoned veteran on tour and currently in fifth place in the world ranking.  He is looking to win the event and upset Your Zoon who has been unstoppable throughout the 2011 season. Sebastien Garat is also in a good position to push for a podium having spent the past few winters here training.

The field is full of talent; Alberto Rondina, who a few years back, eliminated Aaron Hadlow here, to help Kevin Langeree win a world title. Alex Pastor hot off some intense training in Brazil and is looking to show that his execution of technical tricks can get him on the podium.  Mario Rodwald and Marc Jacobs are also no strangers to this place are also looking to get to the podium. The young Australians Simon Wichtermann and Ewan Jaspan are here to represent Australia and turn some heads with some massive Kiteloop front mobes (check out last year’s video).

In the women’s field the top riders Asia Litwin and Holly Kennedy are going to show that they can beat the local girls on the lagoons of New Caledonia.  A few of the girls have already had a few scratches and 3 stiches for Maika, but they are stoked about this event and it should be fun to watch.

Make sure you check out the live webcast, videos and press releases throughout the week.
